Hello Families,

This is Baker Principal Amy Latimer with your weekly updates.  It was a solid first full week of school and students are settling into the systems and routines.  We began iReady diagnostic testing this week and will continue next week as well.  Please make sure that your child comes to school daily with a laptop and charger.

Tomorrow, Monday, September 21^st, will be picture day.  Students were provided with information about purchasing pictures.  This was distributed to students on Friday at the end of the day and should be in your child’s backpack. Students need to be in uniform.

I wanted to remind you that we have our annual Open House this Thursday, September 24^th from 5:00-6:30 pm.  This is a casual meet-and-greet and a great opportunity to come and connect and build relationships to support your child throughout the year.

Please complete the CNEEB form that can help families reduce fees for ASB, athletics, after school programs, college applications and more. You’ll see a link to the form in the Tacoma Public Schools newsletter in your email on Sunday.

We all have a role to play in keeping our schools safe. Bullying is not tolerated. Bullying, harassment, or intimidation can take many forms, including online posts, and verbal or physical acts. You can report bullying or harassment online, links to forms are on our website. Also, a reminder that schools are weapon-free, drug-free, tobacco-free, and alcohol-free zones. And threatening a school is a crime. Any threat to a school, student, or staff member is taken seriously. If you see something, say something. We encourage everyone in our community who sees or hears a threat to call 911 and notify the school.

Take a look at our website for tips to understand when students are too sick to be at school and when they can return to normal activities. If you're looking for a healthcare resource, MultiCare and SeaMar offer school-based clinic services to all Tacoma Public Schools students. The clinics are at Mount Tahoma High School and Lincoln High School.  Get more information on our website!
