Find Your Next Book

Our partnership with Tacoma Public Libraries allows students and teachers to access library resources using their student or employee ID card. Students who don't have their ID on them can still check out materials using their student ID number.

Find your next favorite book, e-book, audiobook, and resources using your student library account.

Register your account

Click on “Log in/My Account” in the upper right hand corner of any page of the Tacoma Public Library website. Then click on "Log in/Register" at the top of the drop down menu.
Type your student ID number into the field “Username or Barcode” and type 1234 into the “PIN” field.
You'll then be asked to create your library username and activate your online account.
Once you have logged in, click on “My Settings” to change your pin number and add an email address.

Once your account is set up, click “Search” in the upper right hand corner of any page on the library's website to find items in the library catalog.

Need help?

If your student ID number is not working to access Tacoma Public Library digital resources your parent/ guardian may need to submit an opt-in form to grant you access.

It may take up to one week after you submit the form for your ID number to work. Please reach out to your school's librarian if you have questions.

Sora: Tacoma's Digital Library

Sora is Tacoma’s digital library, where students can borrow and read ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines, 24/7. Sora also offers content in other languages, such as 57 language magazines and 73 Spanish ebooks.

How do I access Sora?
Sora is located in Clever which can be found on a school laptop in the TPS favorites in the folder icon of Edge in the upper left corner. Students can also access Sora on the web.
